Why is art important to you?

“Not just art, but creativity as a whole. Creativity has always been a core trait of mine. There is a fantastic buzz about getting stuck into a project, a real positive head space. The sense of accomplishment at the end feels good on the heart too. Art is me and without it, I don't think there would be very much to me at all.”

What is your ideal work environment?

“That depends. Are we talking realistically? If so, a little peace and quiet goes a long way! Otherwise, a warm and cosy greenhouse, decorated with green and flowered foliage. Rain pounding on the glass around me on a plush chaise longue, hot tea at a convinient distance to my right, Spotify on low, and never losing my eraser the entire time."

Where do you find inspiration?

“With any personal project, the inspiration comes first and it usually stems from thoughts and feelings, or something cool I saw that one time. Work projects are a little different though. The cue of a new brief may have my head swirling with ideas but If i'm actively looking for inspiration, it can come from literally anywhere. Cereal boxes, signposting, the pattern on a new shirt.. you name it! It's pretty easy to find inspiration when i’m naturally acknowledging color schemes, lay-outs and fonts rather than every day objects, so i'm never lost for all that long.”

What is your biggest achievement?

“If anyone told you that being a successful artist was easy, they're definitely lying! That in itself is my biggest achievement but the journey deserves a little recognition too. I'll never sell a piece of work for a million dollars like a top tier Picasso but there is still a sense of pride in being completely self-taught. With only a high-school grade and a butt load of my own initiative, i'm exactly where I wanted to be and with every single day, I am thankful for it. I am still learning new things all these years on and recently designed a tarot deck which was tedious but rewarding work. My first creative win was designing a new logo for my school. Seeing 300+ students wearing it was a blast and they still use it today!”

Why did you create a website?

“I’m an indefinite introvert with poor social skills and I’m only 5 Subway sandwiches tall. I like to believe I have a gift for reading vibes but sometimes it can feel like a creepy 6th sense. My favorite colors are blue and green with purple being a firm competitor, although my home is themed with shades of burnt orange. I have two beautiful Budgerigars who are noisier than my children but I do love their quirks. I LOVE bees, or all animals for that matter. My favorite food is Mexican but I enjoy a wholesome pot roast too. I may be biased, but I think my cooking is pretty tasty! I’m a hobby enthusiast and love to try new things, even if I end up being terrible at it. This year, after successfully beginning a pumpkin patch, i’d like try my hand at a little gardening. Pyrography is also high up on the list and maybe i’ll give it a go some day. I work a whole lot but in my down time, I do enjoy a little gaming, especially Runescape! Something people would be surprised to learn about me, is that I once trained on a galleon ship and qualified too! I was invited back to work on the ship training others but it wasn’t a great time to leave everything behind. That just about sums up all the good bits!”

“I’m aware that social media is the ‘norm’ for building any kind of audience and it truly does work a charm! ..but social media also comes with a lot of it’s own problems and for an empath, that can become very deflating. I remember being so incredibly exhausted, feeling the feels of a million people like an emotional sponge, so I came away and I feel so much better for it. It taught me to live my life for myself too which I’d recommend to everyone. I didn’t want to give up entirely though, so I figured building a website is the next best thing. A space for all my pretties that I could show to my children one day. I’d love to start a blog too, but we will see..”
